Work Headlamps, LED Work Lights & Job Site Power Cords
Adequate lighting is both a productivity requirement and a safety requirement. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.56 specifies minimum illumination levels for construction worksites, and 29 CFR 1910.303(g) requires adequate lighting in spaces where electrical work is performed. Beyond fixed lighting, personal work lighting — headlamps and pocket lights — provides hands-free, directed illumination wherever a worker needs it: inside panels, in confined spaces, in crawl spaces, and on rooftops at night.
Safe-Fast stocks 16 lighting products across two subcategories, primarily from COAST, Nightstick, and Securis, along with all-weather extension cords and GFCI adapters from Conntek:
- Headlamps — rechargeable and battery-powered hands-free headlamps spanning 380 to 1,000+ lumens:
- COAST FL13 (380 lumens) — compact COB utility beam with dual white/red LED; High and Low output. Red LED for work in low-light conditions without destroying night vision.
- COAST FL20R (520 lumens) — rechargeable via USB; COAST Ultra-Strap for wearing, hanging, or strapping to structures. Dual white/red COB flood beam.
- COAST LHS500R (515 lumens + lighted strap) — rechargeable 360° worksite safety headlamp; the illuminated elastic strap increases peripheral visibility to coworkers, improving jobsite safety awareness.

Work Headlamps & Job Site Lighting — Frequently Asked Questions
Lumens measure the total amount of light output emitted by the light source in all directions. A higher lumen count means more total light output — useful for comparing overall brightness between headlamps.
Lux measures the amount of light falling on a specific surface at a specific distance — it accounts for how the light is focused. A headlamp with 500 lumens in a tight spot beam will illuminate a distant point much more brightly than a 500-lumen flood beam headlamp. For task lighting in confined spaces and panel work where precision matters, beam pattern (spot vs. flood) is as important as total lumens.
A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) monitors the current flowing through a circuit and cuts power within milliseconds if it detects a difference of 4–6 milliamps between the hot and neutral conductors — a sign that current is leaking through an unintended path, possibly through a person. This response is fast enough to prevent a fatal electrocution.
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.404(b) requires GFCI protection for all 120-volt, single-phase 15- and 20-ampere receptacle outlets used on construction sites. The Conntek GFCI Tri-Outlet Adapter provides GFCI protection at any standard outlet, turning an unprotected receptacle into a compliant GFCI-protected multi-outlet for temporary job site power.
Most standard headlamps use a front-mounted lamp unit that sits directly above the brim of the hard hat. On hard hats with integrated or bracket-mounted flip-up face shields, this lamp position can interfere with the shield's pivot mechanism — the lamp housing blocks the shield from fully raising or lowering.
The Nightstick NSP-4614B uses a lower-profile housing and mounting bracket specifically engineered to clear the shield hardware on common hard hat models. This is particularly important for utility workers, electricians, and linemen who need both a face shield and task lighting simultaneously.
