Diamond Blades, Core Bits & Grinding Wheels
Diamond tooling delivers the precision, speed, and blade life that abrasive wheels cannot match in concrete, asphalt, masonry, and hard material cutting. Safe-Fast carries Diamond Vantage — a professional-grade manufacturer engineering diamond tools for flat saws, angle grinders, core drills, and masonry saws. Every Diamond Vantage product is built around precisely patterned synthetic diamond segments laser-welded or sintered to a steel core, delivering consistent cut quality and maximum segment life across the full range of construction materials.
This category is organized across two subcategories, with products suited to both handheld angle grinder work and high-horsepower flat saw applications:
- Blades & Wheels — diamond cutting blades and cup grinding wheels in 4.5" to 20-5/8" diameters:
- ZENESIS All-Purpose & General Purpose Blades — professional-grade blades for medium to high horsepower flat saws. Patented patterned diamond arrangement delivers maximum cutting speed across critically hard to soft abrasive green concrete, brick, and masonry.
- Vortex Turbo Blades — general purpose masonry blades for angle grinders. Fast cutting with an extremely smooth, clean finish; available in 4.5" and 6".
- Asphalt/Green Concrete Blades — four bond hardnesses for optimized performance in asphalt. Tri-plex undercut protection and U-slot core for water flow and extended core life.
- Combination (All-Cut) Blades — versatile blade for cutting brick, concrete, green concrete, and asphalt. Ideal for rental fleets or where stocking multiple specialty blades is not practical.
- Silent Core Masonry Saw Blade — 20-5/8" laminated copper/steel silent core for premium performance and noise reduction in masonry brick/block cutting.
- Cup Wheels — 4.5" and 7" double-row turbo cup wheels for surface grinding and material removal on concrete and masonry.
- DiamondX Grinding Wheels — depressed center grinding discs (Type 27/29) for weld removal, pipe beveling, and stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Tuck Point Blades — V-shaped laser-welded blades for rapid mortar joint removal in masonry repair work.
- Core Bits — wet and dry diamond core bits for drilling clean holes in concrete block, brick, and masonry. Available in multiple diameters with matching core bit extensions in 12" lengths for deeper drilling applications.

Diamond Blades & Core Bits — Frequently Asked Questions
Segmented blades have gullets (gaps) between diamond segments that allow for debris evacuation and blade cooling. They cut fast in concrete, asphalt, and hard masonry but leave a rougher edge. Best for flat saws and high-horsepower applications. The ZENESIS and Combination blades in this category are segmented designs.
Turbo (serrated rim) blades have a continuous rim with a diagonal serrated pattern that provides faster cutting than a smooth rim while still producing a reasonably clean finish. The Vortex Turbo blades are designed for general purpose masonry materials on angle grinders.
Continuous rim blades provide the smoothest cuts but cut slower and are typically used for tile, porcelain, and fine stone where finish quality matters. Not stocked in this category — contact Safe-Fast for specialty tile blade sourcing.
Diamond blade selection depends on three factors: material hardness, saw type and horsepower, and whether you are cutting wet or dry. General guidelines:
- Asphalt / green (uncured) concrete: use the Asphalt/Green Concrete blade — softer bond releases diamonds faster for abrasive, softer materials.
- Cured concrete / brick / block: use the ZENESIS General Purpose or Combination blade for versatility; ZENESIS All-Purpose for maximum speed on medium to high-horsepower saws.
- Masonry / brick on angle grinder: Vortex Turbo is the go-to for 4.5" and 6" grinders.
- Mortar joint removal: Tuck Point blade only.
- Metal grinding / weld removal: DiamondX depressed center wheels.
If you routinely cut multiple material types and don't want to stock multiple blades, the 14" Combination Blade handles brick, concrete, green concrete, and asphalt and is the standard choice for rental fleets.
The Diamond Vantage ZENESIS blade uses a precisely patterned arrangement of synthetic diamonds — rather than a random distribution — across the segment face. This controlled placement creates a consistent cutting surface that Diamond Vantage claims produces faster cut speeds than comparable blades on the market. ZENESIS blades are designed for medium to high horsepower flat saws and are rated for a wide range of materials from critically hard concrete to soft, abrasive green concrete and masonry.
Two ZENESIS options are available: the All-Purpose (AP) for maximum versatility and the General Purpose for a broader bond range. Both are 14" diameter with a 1"/20mm arbor.
Wet-cut blades are designed to run with a continuous water supply that cools the blade core, flushes debris, and suppresses silica dust. They generally last longer and cut faster because heat doesn't build up in the core. Required for most large-diameter flat saw cutting of concrete and asphalt.
Dry-cut blades have cores and segment bonds engineered for air cooling — they rely on intermittent cuts and blade rotation for heat dissipation. They are used with angle grinders or walk-behind saws in areas where water is not practical.
Do not use a wet-only blade dry — the core can overheat, warp, or crack, which is a serious safety hazard. The blade's label specifies wet, dry, or dual-use. All Diamond Vantage blades in this category are marked accordingly.
Standard drill bits cut by rotating sharp cutting edges through material. Diamond core bits cut by grinding — the diamond-impregnated rim abrades a circular kerf through the material, leaving a clean cylindrical core. This makes them the only practical choice for drilling clean holes in cured concrete, reinforced concrete, block, brick, and natural stone.
Diamond core bits are hollow — they drill a hole while extracting a solid core plug. They are used for plumbing penetrations, conduit routing, HVAC sleeves, anchor bolt installations, and structural investigations. Available as wet or dry designs; wet bits run cooler and last significantly longer in reinforced concrete. Core bit extensions (12") allow drilling to greater depth without repositioning.
